Narita Airport Terminal 1 → Ikebukuro
| Method | Duration | Cost | Transfers | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Train Keisei Skyliner Speed | 70 min | ¥2,790 | 1 | Keisei Skyliner is an all-reserved limited express with luggage racks. In addition to the fare of ¥1,280 (¥1,267 by IC card), you need a Skyliner ticket for ¥1,300 (¥300 more if you board without one), for ¥2,580 in total (¥2,567 with an IC card) to Nippori. From Narita Airport Station (Terminal 1) it takes about 44 minutes to Nippori. Trains also stop at Narita Airport Terminal 2·3 Station, which serves Terminals 2 and 3; Terminal 3 has no station of its own and is about a 10-minute walk away. At Nippori, change to the JR Yamanote Line for Ikebukuro (about 13 minutes, ¥210, or ¥209 by IC card). On the timetable in effect since 13 December 2025, trains leave the airport roughly every 20 minutes for most of the day. Keisei changes its timetable from 21 November 2026 (weekends and holidays) and 24 November 2026 (weekdays); for travel from those dates, check Keisei's timetable. |
| Train Narita Express Speed | 110 min | ¥3,330 | 1 | Narita Express (N'EX, JR East) has reserved seats and large luggage space; a Limited Express Unreserved Seat Ticket costs the same and lets you use any vacant ordinary seat, but you must give it up if a passenger with a reservation arrives. N'EX does not serve Ikebukuro: ride to Shinjuku, then change to the JR Saikyo or Yamanote Line. With a ticket through to Ikebukuro, the trip costs ¥3,330 (fare ¥1,600 plus the N'EX charge of ¥1,730; ¥3,325 if you pay the fare by IC card); an example connection from Terminal 1 takes about 110 minutes. Holders of non-Japanese passports can buy the N'EX TOKYO Round Trip Ticket (¥5,200 for a round trip within 14 days). From the evening of 6 November to the morning of 8 November 2026, tunnel work disrupts N'EX services between Tokyo and Shinjuku; if you travel then, check JR East's notice (https://www.jreast.co.jp/en/yokosuka-tunnel-koji/). |
| Train Budget | 135 min | ¥1,600 | 1 | A JR Sobu Line Rapid train, with no reserved seats and limited luggage space. Take the Sobu Rapid to Tokyo, then change to the Yamanote Line for Ikebukuro; about 135 minutes, ¥1,600 for a paper ticket (¥1,595 by IC card). |
| Train Keisei Narita Sky Access Line Budget | 100 min | ¥1,490 | 2 | Keisei Access Express runs on the Narita Sky Access Line with no limited-express charge. Most trains continue from Aoto onto the Toei Asakusa Line, so change at Aoto to a Keisei Main Line train for Nippori; on the timetable in effect since 13 December 2025, only a few weekday evening trains run through to Nippori. At Nippori, change to the JR Yamanote Line for Ikebukuro; about 100 minutes from Narita Airport Station (Terminal 1), ¥1,490 (¥1,476 by IC card) including the JR fare. Keisei changes its timetable from 21 November 2026 (weekends and holidays) and 24 November 2026 (weekdays); for travel from those dates, check Keisei's timetable. |
| Bus Heavy Luggage OK | 120 min | ¥3,600 | 0 | Airport Limousine (Airport Transport Service) stops in Ikebukuro at Sunshine City Prince Hotel, Ikebukuro Sunshine Bus Terminal and Hotel Metropolitan, with luggage carried under the floor. The adult fare is ¥3,600. From Terminal 1, scheduled times are about 90–110 minutes to Sunshine City Prince Hotel and 110–135 minutes to Hotel Metropolitan, and traffic can make the trip longer. These stops are hotels and a bus terminal, not Ikebukuro Station, and not every bus on this route stops in Ikebukuro, so check the stops before boarding. |
